
If you’re not from Maryland I wouldn’t blame you for never having seen the Maryland state flag. More people are familiar with it since it’s now in the Baltimore Raven’s alternate logo, Baltimore Oriole’s sleeve patch, and University of Maryland’s alternate logo. It’s a strange and striking flag. If you don’t believe me then read what Paul Lukas, the industry expert on logo and uniform design, has to say about the flag.
As we all know, the Maryland state flag is really cool cuz it’s really weird, and therefore it’s more or less mandatory that we give the thumbs-up to any patch based on that flag design.
Armed with that info you can see why I was floored when I heard that Baltimore based Under Armour would release a line of apparel based off the design of the Maryland flag. What they came up with is known as Baltiflage. They’ve snuck the Maryland flag in some of their lacrosse designs before but this all over camoflage is completely new.
Possibly the best thing to come out of Baltimore since Omar Little. Ayo.
